Desespoir by jSepia Desespoir by jSepia
Désespoir is a french word that means desperation. It's written with an é, but DA doesn't let you use non-english letters in the title. I wanted to create something with bubbles, but I was going through a very stressing period, so I just couldn't draw rainbows and flowers. I wanted to represent that kind of moments when there are too many thoughts in your head, and you only want to give up and explode.

> I started this by filling my canvas with $'s, then deleting or replacing them as I went drawing. There are about 5~6 different sizes of bubbles, the rest are just copies that were edited a bit.

> This piece allowed me to improve my antialiasing a lot. I introduced new characters such as Q, 4 and |, that I rarely used before. I also tried to make gradients (although I don't like the way the look now), and I worked on human expressions.

> This time I won't use extended characters, I don't think I'll have time.

Edit: Changed the color from grey to white.

New edit: I made a quick comeback from the realm of the dead (inactive) to add the links to the tutorials. I hope you find them entertaining or even useful. Thanks a lot to `diamondie and ^patgroove for the feature. :) I hope both have a good time collaborating together to improve the text art gallery.

The O's in his hair look a little bit.. hm, off.. and there's one "bubble-thing" that looks a little oval..

But truly an amazing piece! Good job! :D

It's good that you pointed that out, I was on my early learning stage when I made that, and as of today, I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for the input!
