I started this avatar a long time ago, but couldn't find any way to spice up the animation. Making it blink isn't very original, but... it has to blink. :giggle:

For those who don't know who this penguin is (yes, some people have no idea), it's called Tux, and it's the official Linux mascot (Linux is an OS). Linus Torvalds, the guy who created Linux, had a fixation for penguins:

"Linus Torvalds has claimed, in various posts to Linux kernel discussion groups over the years, to have been attacked by a 'ferocious penguin that bit me and infected me with a little known disease called penguinitis. Penguinitis makes you stay awake at nights just thinking about penguins and feeling great love towards them'.
Torvalds later said that while he did indeed have a close and personal encounter with a penguin, the bird wasn't ferocious, and just timidly nibbled on Torvald's finger."

Done in Ulead Gif Animator 5, as always. I can't say how much time it took. It would have been done in a couple of hours if I stopped nitpicking every detail. There's no compression involved, everything is pixeled and dithered by hand.

I think the top of Tux's head is a bit flat and there should be more space between the eyes, but that can be counted to artistic intepretation. Good work as always, I really like the animation - especially that wiggling leg. Blinking may be a cliché, but real people (and probably most animals) do blink constantly.

Even though it's a known fact that people blink less when they're looking at a computer screen. But I don't know if that applies to TFT's. :shrug:

Thank you for the advice. My reference picture has a rather flat head, but I fixed a couple of pixels anyway.
